M Cash · 2024

Three years number one - back to singing

"Have no problems" took M Cash's most powerful asset - music - and turned it into a new question: not why the brand is good, but what it's actually for.

The challenge

Being first is a different job from getting there. Which meant the old engine had run out of road: adding a tenth reason to choose M Cash does nothing for someone who already knows the first nine. The brand needed to stop arguing that it was the best option and start showing up in the specific moments people needed one.

The idea

We went back to what had worked in the past [See BDG's M Cash campaign for 2021 →] and pointed it somewhere new. A well-loved Macedonian song from the 90's, reworked and sung by Zarko Dimitrioski who was once again seated in the celebrity chair, gave the campaign an instant emotional shortcut - a tune adults already knew by heart and children picked up in a single listen, for the purpose of humming it at the dinner table of course.

But the real move was in the message. We did a very smart and highly skilled wordplay with the lyrics making it so that the tonality, tempo of the singing and even the syllables in the rhyming stayed very much similar to the original, but all of it being an instruction to the customer. The campaign stopped talking about the company and started talking about the moment before the company - and it put the call to action inside the chorus, so the thing people sang back was the thing we wanted them to do.

The campaign world

An anthem spot launched the platform, then the situational films did the strategic work - and they made a deliberate choice about which situations to show. A birthday party cost climbing item by item, a family road trip where every good idea costs something and so on. Private moments where money is the difference between a good day and a spoiled one. As one line in the campaign puts it, every celebration has its price - but peace of mind doesn't.

What we did next

In 2025 we turned the music off. The tenth anniversary film had no ambassador, no gag, no deadline on screen - just four people who got what they wanted. [See how we did it →]
