A parish meeting wanted a county council and a private landowner to approve a new shared-use path. Put plainly, that's an infrastructure ask, and infrastructure asks default to resistance, cost, disruption, precedent. The real brief wasn't a production one, but how to "make the case land before anyone has a chance to object to it."
The film opens on the village itself, honey-stone cottages, the church tower, the river, a place worth caring about before the danger on Oxford Road ever appears. By the time the problem is introduced, the viewer already sees blatantly what’s at risk. The path stops being a new thing being proposed and becomes a thing risking the village staying exactly as lovable as it is.
The proposed path itself is deliberately undersold on screen, natural gravel, no lighting, screened by the existing hedgerow, explicitly styled as countryside lightly touched rather than infrastructure imposed. That restraint matters as much as anything: a lobbying film that oversells the solution would undercut the preservation argument it just spent half the runtime building.
The film is built from AI-generated live action, photorealistic and generated from actual footage and photos taken at the place. All of it skillfully crafted work that would ordinarily require multiple location shoots, a cast and a proper production budget a parish meeting doesn't have. That wasn’t needed here. That's the quieter second story behind the obvious one, professional-grade persuasion is no longer gated behind who can afford a film crew.
